After the first day of practices at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Auburn edge rusher Keyron Crawford looked every bit like a player embracing the next step in his football journey.
Crawford spent much of his opening practice working primarily at the edge position for the National Team, where he showcased the traits that made him a key contributor for the Auburn Tigers defense. Throughout the nearly two hour session inside Hancock Whitney Stadium on the campus of the University of South Alabama, Crawford consistently displayed explosive first step quickness, impressive speed, and the ability to set the edge and bend around offensive tackles to generate pressure on the quarterback.
Following practice, Crawford was asked what area of his game he wanted to improve upon during the week. His response was immediate and emphatic.
“I want to run through somebody face,” Crawford said.
That passion and physical intent were evident throughout practice, as Crawford attacked reps with urgency and intensity. These are the traits that have defined his development at Auburn and now serve him well against elite competition in front of NFL scouts.
Also in attendance was Crawford’s former Auburn edge coach Roc Bellantoni, along with Auburn assistant coach Wayne Dorsey, highlighting the continued support from the Tigers’ coaching staff. When asked about the impact Bellantoni had on his career, Crawford pointed to versatility as a defining lesson.
“He taught me how to be more flexible by being able to move around the football and be comfortable doing so,” Crawford said.
That adaptability showed during practice as Crawford worked from multiple alignments, further enhancing his appeal as a modern edge defender capable of fitting into various defensive schemes.
Crawford concluded his Auburn career with 36 total tackles and five sacks, finishing second on the team in sacks and helping Auburn rank seventh in the SEC in total defense. Now, his focus is firmly set on the next chapter.
With the NFL Draft scheduled for April 23–25, 2026, Crawford is determined to make the most of his Senior Bowl opportunity as he works toward hearing his name called and realizing his professional football dream.
