USF True Freshman QB Locklan Hewlett Commits to Auburn

Auburn continues to reshape its quarterback room with upside and long-term vision, as Locklan Hewlett, a true freshman quarterback from University of South Florida, has committed to the Tigers.

Hewlett, listed at 6’1”, 195 pounds, arrives on the Plains with a strong developmental profile and a background of consistent production. Coming out of St. Augustine High School in St. Augustine, Florida, Hewlett was rated a three star prospect, in the 2025 recruiting class and quickly established himself as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the state during his prep career.

During his time at St. Augustine, Hewlett passed for over 5,000 yards, threw 47 touchdowns, and completed 61% of his passes, while limiting mistakes with just 13 interceptions. His leadership helped guide the Yellow Jackets to an 11–1 record and a berth in the Class 3S Florida State Championship Game, cementing his reputation as a poised and efficient signal-caller. His high-school success earned him national recognition, including being named a U.S. Army All-American.

Hewlett initially committed to play for Alex Golesh at USF, joining the Bulls as part of the 2025 recruiting class. Though his time on the field was limited as a true freshman, Hewlett showed flashes of his potential in game action. He completed 7 of 12 passes for 90 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception, while posting an impressive 77% completion rate. Though it’s a small sample size, it reflects his accuracy and comfort within the offense.

Now, Hewlett is continuing his collegiate journey at Auburn Tigers, following Golesh and Auburn offensive coordinator Joel Gordon to the Plains. The move signals Auburn’s continued emphasis on quarterback depth, continuity, and long-term development within its offensive system.

While Hewlett is still early in his college career, his combination of production, efficiency, and familiarity with the coaching staff makes him an intriguing addition to Auburn’s quarterback room. As the Tigers continue to build toward the future, Hewlett represents a developmental piece with a proven track record of winning and the tools to grow within Auburn’s evolving offense.
