Auburn Adds Veteran Presence Inside with Transfer DT Cody Sigler
Auburn continues to reinforce its defensive front with the addition of former Arkansas State Red Wolves defensive tackle Cody Sigler, a move that addresses both experience and physicality along the interior of the Tigers’ defense.
Sigler arrives on the Plains with two years of eligibility remaining, stepping into a defensive tackle room that is young but undeniably talented. His presence immediately raises the floor of the group, offering a veteran voice and a proven body capable of handling the physical demands of SEC football.
At 6-foot-3, 297 pounds, Sigler brings the type of size and strength Auburn has been looking to solidify the middle of its defensive line. Most importantly, his ability to play the 3-technique defensive tackle adds a dimension Auburn has been searching for, interior pass rush.
That skill set becomes even more valuable following the departure of former Auburn defensive lineman Malik Blocton, who transferred to LSU Tigers. With Blocton moving on, Auburn needed someone capable of disrupting guards, collapsing pockets, and creating pressure without relying solely on edge rushers. Sigler fits that mold.
During his most recent season at Arkansas State, Sigler posted 35 total tackles, 5 sacks, and 6 pass deflections, production that underscores his versatility and awareness at the line of scrimmage. His impact was recognized with All–Sun Belt Second Team honors, a testament to his consistency and effectiveness against conference competition.
For Auburn, Sigler’s addition is less about replacing one player and more about stabilizing the interior. His experience allows younger defensive linemen to develop without being rushed into oversized roles, while his physical style sets a tone for the unit. If his Sun Belt production translates to SEC play, Auburn could see a noticeable improvement in pocket disruption and third-down pass rush from the inside.
As Auburn continues to build depth and balance across its defensive front, Cody Sigler represents a strategic pickup. This is a move that blends experience, production, and positional value at a critical spot in the defense.
